Probation case registers, 1947-1979.

Three series of probation case registers, giving case number, name of individual, county, judge, offense, and data on sentence or probation. One volume lists probation date, county of residence, court, and name of probation supervisor, and is believed to represent probations granted and supervised directly by the district, probate, or juvenile courts. Three volumes include date and length of sentence, and are believed to be paroles from the correctional institutions.

In 1973, the Minnesota Corrections Department began experimenting with an alternative to incarceration for selected property offenders through the opening of the Minnesota Restitution Center, a limited residential program with 22 beds in Minneapolis.
